We are thrilled to announce Gill Allan as the recipient of the EFL Community Hero award from Notts County Foundation. Gill’s dedication and commitment to the Cancer and Rehabilitation Exercise (CARE) programme will likely have not only transformed her own life but have also made a profound impact on the lives of others within our community.
Gill was presented with the prestigious award prior to the game at Meadow Lane last month, when Notts County faced Barrow Town FC. Her incredible journey as a participant in the CARE programme spans an impressive eight years, during which she has consistently demonstrated resilience, tenacity, and an unwavering commitment to improving her health and quality of life.
A true champion of CARE, Gill goes above and beyond to support fellow participants in their initial sessions, offering guidance and encouragement. Her involvement extends beyond the workout sessions, as she actively collaborates with the programme’s staff to shape its development, ensuring that CARE remains an effective resource for all participants. Her dedication to promoting the programme has been instrumental in raising awareness and garnering support for CARE’s mission.
Josh Stevenson, Health Manager at Notts County Foundation, expressed his admiration for Gill’s remarkable contributions, stating, “Gill’s longevity and dedication to CARE sessions, coupled with her tireless efforts in improving her own health while living with and beyond cancer, make her a true inspiration. Her personality and presence at the sessions create a comfortable and welcoming environment for all participants, embodying the spirit of the EFL Community Hero award.”
Gill Allan’s recognition as the EFL Community Hero is a testament to her outstanding contributions and the positive impact she has made within the Notts County community. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Gill for this well-deserved honour, and we look forward to witnessing the continued positive influence she brings to the lives of those around her.
