Dylan Robinson Wins Captain’s Corner Award for October

16-year-old Dylan Robinson has been named the winner of Notts County Foundation’s Captain’s Corner Award for October, a recognition that celebrates his incredible courage, generosity, and unwavering support for his beloved club.

Diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Dylan has been undergoing major treatments, including chemotherapy, for some time. Despite these challenges, Dylan has remained a devoted Notts County fan, attending as many matches as possible at Meadow Lane, showing immense determination to support his team.

A family occasion: Dylan (third from left) and those close to him gather pitch-side for a photo at Meadow Lane.

The Foundation wanted to create an unforgettable experience for Dylan, offering him a well-deserved moment of joy before the start of his next round of treatments. With the support of Notts County Football Club, we were able to host a special matchday experience that allowed Dylan to enjoy a day full of memories that will last a lifetime.

Dylan’s matchday experience kicked off with a behind-the-scenes tour of Meadow Lane, where he got to explore areas usually off-limits to fans. He had exclusive pitch-side access, taking in the views from the edge of the pitch. The highlight of the day came when Dylan was introduced to Notts County Club Captain, Matty Palmer, who took time out of his schedule to meet the young fan.

The experience was rounded off with a VIP viewing of the match in the Foundation’s Hospitality Box, complete with food and drink, ensuring Dylan had a truly special afternoon with his family.

Earlier this year, Dylan and his family, alongside Arnold Town FC, organised a charity event to raise funds for the ward that treated him and a cancer charity close to his heart. Notts County Foundation were proud to support this event, setting up a stall to help raise vital funds. Despite still undergoing treatment, Dylan’s focus was on helping others in similar circumstances, highlighting his incredible generosity and kindness.

“During the treatment I have been having, there haven’t been many things to look forward to. When I heard what Josh and the Foundation had done, I was really looking forward to it. It gave me something to push through the chemo for. The day itself was amazing, every minute was full of activity, and it was such a pleasure to meet captain Matty P!” – Dylan Robinson

The Captain’s Corner Award is about more than just supporting Notts County on the pitch – it celebrates the courage, generosity, and resilience shown by young fans like Dylan who inspire everyone around them. His journey is one of incredible strength, and his commitment to helping others despite his own challenges makes him a true hero in the eyes of the Foundation and the wider Notts County family.

“Dylan is Notts County through and through and has been since the age of three. After our experience of the day in the box and meeting Matty P… our admiration for our club has exceeded to another level. The kindness and effort from everyone involved was top class. To see Dylan with a constant smile on his face, despite everything he’s going through, was such a pleasure to see as parents. Thank you so much.” – Wayne and Natasha, Dylan’s parents

Dylan’s story reminds us all of the importance of community, compassion, and the power of sport to bring joy and hope in even the toughest of times. We are incredibly proud to have had the opportunity to make Dylan’s day unforgettable, and we look forward to continuing to support him as he continues his fight with such courage and determination.
