Notts County Foundation are proud to announce that Andy Kneen has been selected as the Notts County Premier League Community Captain. This recognition celebrates his incredible dedication, passion, and commitment to driving positive change in our community.
Over the last two weeks, the Premier League and clubs have been celebrating ‘More Than A Game’ and highlighting the positive impact of Premier League investment into communities and clubs at every level of football.

The Premier League has invested £1.6 billion into wider football and communities between 2022 and 2025 to support football at every level of the game across England and Wales. This world-leading funding into clubs, communities and facilities positively impacts and inspires millions of people.
As part of ‘More Than A Game’, the League are celebrating more than 100 Community Captains – individuals nominated by Premier League, EFL and National League clubs for their contribution to their local community via programmes funded by the Premier League.
Andy has been chosen as Notts County’s 2025 Community Captain for his incredible commitment to our community. As the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Advisor for both Notts County Foundation and Notts County Football club, Andy has proven to be an invaluable asset. His deep knowledge and enthusiasm for EDI have been instrumental in helping us deliver and shape a wide range of projects aimed at supporting underrepresented groups in our local area. Andy’s tireless efforts have been key in ensuring that Notts County remains a club that is accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or ability.
”Thank-you for nominating me for this award, it’s a huge honour. Notts County Foundation do unbelievable work in breaking down barriers and creating an inclusive environment for everyone. That matters to me and everyone who interacts with the Foundation’’. – Andy Kneen, Community Captain award recipient
Andy’s contributions go beyond his role as an advisor. He has volunteered his time to work on various mental health initiatives, particularly with the Foundation’s On The Ball project, which focuses on supporting men’s mental health. His voluntary involvement in these efforts, coupled with his leadership in shaping new EDI strategies, has made him an essential part of our foundation’s mission to foster inclusion.
”What stands out most about Andy is his passion for inclusion. He is a true advocate for the values we hold at the Foundation, and his enthusiasm inspires everyone he works with. His ability to bring others along on this important journey has made a difference to the lives of many in our community.” – Sam Crawford, Chief Financial Officer at Notts County Foundation
One of Andy’s key strengths has been his ability to engage with underrepresented groups, particularly through the Premier League’s Fans Fund initiatives. His insight into the needs of local communities, especially those with disabilities, has been key in guiding our approach to delivering targeted, impactful projects. Through his own personal circumstances and experiences with a disability, Andy has provided advice and direction on how we can create a more accessible and inclusive environment for disabled supporters.
Andy’s work has ensured that Notts County and the Foundation adopt a unified approach when it comes to EDI action plans, allowing us to make the best use of available resources. Whether it’s identifying areas where engagement can be improved or acting as a liaison between the Club and the Foundation, Andy’s dedication to collaboration has made a lasting impact.
“It is so important that we continue to recognise and collectively highlight the positive impact that work within local communities has, championing those at the heart of Premier League-funded initiatives. Success on the pitch enables the Premier League to share unparalleled investment into communities and football at all levels across England and Wales.” – Nick Perchard, Director of Community at Premier League
Andy’s recognition as Premier League Community Captain is a tribute to his hard work and commitment. Notts County are incredibly proud to have him as part of the Notts family, and the Foundation cannot think of anyone more deserving of this honour.
