The first episode is being launched today, coinciding with World Mental Health Day, and is available for streaming and download. In this special debut episode, the focus is on the wellbeing projects available at the Portland Centre, the hub of Notts County Foundation activities. Two significant programmes—‘Right Mind’ and ‘Bottled Up Blokes’—take centre stage.
‘Right Mind’ is a dedicated programme supporting women’s mental health, while ‘Bottled Up Blokes’ is a men’s support group that utilises the Portland Centre’s facilities to run sessions. In this episode, listeners will hear from Tim Cox, the founder of Bottled Up Blokes, alongside Cheryl, a participant from the Right Mind programme, as they discuss their journeys and the positive impact these initiatives have had on their wellbeing.
Every episode will be released on PodBean and shared across the Foundation’s social media platforms. Each episode will be recorded in the heart of Meadow Lane – the home of Notts County FC. The Foundation ‘s hospitality box will be turned into a pop-up recording studio to give guests the best possible experience.
The Foundation has partnered with local TV and radio presenter Mark Dennison, who has generously lent his voice to brand the podcast. Josh Wing, the Foundation’s Marketing and Events Coordinator, has taken on the roles of presenter, producer, and editor of the podcast, integrating this project into his daily work to bring the Foundation’s vision to life.
”It’s a real privilege to be in the company of some amazing people associated with the Foundation, who will be sharing personal stories with us.
I have witnessed the impact Right Mind and Bottled Up Blokes has on communities and I am proud we are able to give them the credit they deserve. Over time, we hope this podcast will gain momentum and create awareness on the incredible things that go on in around the Portland Centre and Meadow Lane.” – Josh Wing | Marketing and Events Coordinator, Notts County Foundation
Notts County Foundation hopes that ‘Eye of the Magpie’ will spotlight the positive stories emerging from their charity work and showcase the pride and dedication behind every programme. With a history of investing in local wellbeing since 1989, the Foundation aims to use this podcast as a platform to raise awareness of the hard work and commitment demonstrated by everyone involved.
